Summer School Registration

What is our Summer School of Theology?

During the course of the year, our students take courses at home through various means and with different proctors. During the month of August, however, we all gather together for five days of additional classes, training, interviews, and fellowship.

Where is it held?

Our Summer School of Theology is held at the Pocono Mountain Bible Conference in Clifton Twp. Pennsylvania.

What are this year’s dates?

August 14 - 17, 2023
August 14 - Travel Day with Dinner at 5pm and 1st meeting at 7pm
August 17 - Last Class in the late Afternoon. Participants may depart following class or leave on Friday after Breakfast.

Who is invited to attend?

Student Pastors, NMB Planters, Local Preachers, Deaconesses, and District Supply pastors currently serving a PM church, are welcome to attend any or all sessions as the guest of the Conference.

How will attendance at our Summer School of Theology sessions impact your credentialing?

In order to be ordained, credentialed, or have your credentials transferred, you will need to take the prescribed courses through our School of Theology. Attendance at the Summer School of Theology will assist you in completing these requirements. If you have a hardship, and cannot attend for a specific reason, please seek approval from the SOT President. Otherwise, it’s expected that you’ll attend.

2023 School of Theology

The 2023 Summer School of Theology is scheduled for August 14-17 with Friday the 18th being a travel day. All student ministers, ministerial transfers, licensed minister students, and church planters are required to attend the Summer sessions unless personally excused by Dr. Nathan Doyle. Room and board for those required to attend will be paid for by the School of Theology or the NMB. Failure of students to attend without a formal excuse will impact your progress toward license or ordination. Each student minister should be prepared to preach a full sermon or deliver a seven to ten minute devotional message upon request.

Treasurer, Rev. Todd Pastorius will handle travel reimbursements. Student ministers, ministerial transfers, licensed minister students, church planters, and local preachers, are eligible for travel expense reimbursement. Please travel as economically as possible. Those traveling from the Western, South Eastern, and South Central Districts may fly. If you plan to arrive by plane please let Rev. Pastorius know as soon as your flight arrangements are made. He will arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport. Do not rent any cars without permission, they will not be reimbursable. If you must stay over in a motel please make sure to call Rev. Pastorius as soon as possible with your plans. Drivers must keep toll receipts and accurate mileage numbers. Meals are limited to $10 both coming and going for those coming from the Eastern, Western, South East, South Central and Pittsburgh Districts (keep receipts). Any travel plans that include a rental car must be approved before you come to the Summer School of Theology. Failure to get advanced approval may result in forfeit of possible reimbursement.

Local Preachers, Deaconesses, and District Supply pastors currently serving a PM church, are welcome to attend any or all sessions as the guest of the Conference. This is not required, but we welcome and encourage your fellowship with us. The SOT or NMB will provide lodging and meals at PMBC, and travel expenses upon prior approval again this year. Any other attendees will be charged $150 per person or $200 for married couples. In addition, prospective ministerial candidates receiving this letter are hereby invited to attend under the same provisions of room and board, but will not be reimbursed for travel expenses.

The arrival time at the Pocono Mountain Bible Conference is Monday August 14 from 12-5pm. The first class session is scheduled for 7pm. Meals will be served Monday evening through Thursday evening. All sessions will be completed by Thursday afternoon (about 4:30pm), anyone wishing may leave after the Thursday afternoon session. All may sleep over Thursday night; anyone planning to eat Friday morning breakfast must request that by Thursday afternoon so we can give PMBC a count.

Please bring bedding (sleeping bag, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.) unless you fly in by plane. You must also bring towels, toiletries, and a swimsuit if you wish. Also Bibles, notebooks (you will need them), and additional study materials (computers etc.) are your responsibility. Dress for all sessions and meals is casual.

Sincerely,
Leaders at School of Theology
